What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Told Mason Greenwood Will Excite Manchester United Fans

Manchester United hot-shot Mason Greenwood’s first-team debut looks to be imminent following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival at the club.

According to Steve Bates from The Mirror, the 17-year old striker has been told to “Get ready for Reading” following his fine form at youth level this season.

The England Under 17 forward had regularly trained with the first-team squad under Jose Mourinho and was on the bench for the final Champions League group stage game away at Valencia earlier this month.

In all competitions at a number of age groups this year, he’s bagged an incredible 22 goals in 19 starts – including a hat-trick in United’s 4-3 win over Chelsea to inflict the Blues’ first FA Youth Cup defeat for five years.

Regarded as the next big thing at United, Greenwood is expected to be involved in the third round clash with Reading at Old Trafford on 5 January.

Youngsters Angel Gomes and James Garner were both part of the travelling squad for the trip to Cardiff this weekend in Solskjaer’s emphatic first game in charge of United.

And the United legend has already talked openly about wanting to integrate young players into the squad and stick with the club’s traditions during his interim stint.

“Young players will definitely get a chance – that is a big part of this job,” Solskjaer said in his first press conference, as per The Mirror.

“I will speak to Nicky Butt because he will know who is ready and at some point in the New Year it will happen.

“It’s a big part of my job now. I have been on the other side, working with the reserves. I know how important it is to see that link to the first team.

“It’s part of the tradition and history of the club to give young players a chance.”
