These are the biggest reasons airline travelers complained to the Department of Transportation this year!
A United Airlines flight bound for Washington, D.C., was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing in San Francisco on Monday due to a mechanical issue.
United flight 516 headed back to San Francisco International Airport during the flight’s first 30 minutes Monday morning, data on flight tracking website Flight Aware shows. The aircraft was headed to Washington Dulles International Airport.
“United Flight 516 en route to Washington Dulles International Airport returned safely to San Francisco after reporting a mechanical issue,” United told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “The flight is expected to depart for Washington at 12:15 p.m. Pacific.”
Other details about the mechanical issue were not immediately clear.
USA TODAY has reached out to San Francisco International Airport for comment.
