Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James’ MRI on Wednesday showed no significant damage after suffering a left groin strain Tuesday, the team announced Wednesday.
A followup statement from the Lakers said that James will not travel with the team for a Thursday night game at Sacramento and will be listed as day to day going forward. James has been remarkably durable during his career, but it’s possible James misses more than one game for precautionary reasons.
James tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he “dodged a bullet!” and that he will be #backinnotime”.
James strained his groin Tuesday night during the third quarter of the Lakers’ 127-101 victory over the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
James told reporters that he “overextended” his groin after his right leg slipped and Warriors forward Draymond Green went to strip the ball away. He then further injured his groin on defense on the next play.
James was seen on television saying he “felt a pop.”
“With me, with injuries, I am never too concerned about them,” he told reporters after the game.
