Chelsea vs Tottenham Carabao Cup Semi-Final Result

Chelsea are through to the Carabao Cup final after beating Spurs 4-2 on penalties at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs had a 1-0 lead from the first leg thanks to Harry Kane’s penalty but it was Chelsea who turned it on in the first half of the second leg, with goals from N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard putting them 2-0 up – a scoreline they were good value for based on their performance.

The visitors were struggling without key players Heung-Min-Son, Dele Alli and Kane in the opening 45 minutes but Fernando Llorente bagged a brave and brilliant header from a pinpoint Danny Rose cross five minutes into the second half to level the tie on aggregate.

And so the game went straight to penalties, where Eric Dier could not replicate his World Cup heroics and instead blazed the ball high into the stands.

Lucas Moura also missed, with Kepa guessing right and denying the Brazilian, before David Luiz converted Chelsea’s fourth, and more importantly, crucial spot-kick to send Chelsea to Wembley.

Maurizio Sarri’s side will come up against the holders Manchester City on 24 February in what is sure to be a wholly entertaining spectacle.
