Lionel Messi Has Scored At Least 20 Goals In Eleven Consecutive Seasons

It seems like Lionel Messi breaks a new record every time he steps onto a football pitch. Tonight saw him cement his place as the only player in history to score 20+ goals in eleven consecutive seasons in a top five league.

Having found themselves 2-0 down to Valencia in the first half at the Nou Camp, Barca were awarded a penalty and Messi coolly converted it to add to his tally for the season.

He then followed it up with his 21st league goal of the season – Messi effortlessly curling in gorgeous equaliser to make it 2-2.

Not only does it mark his best goalscoring run since January 2013, with twelve goals in his last nine games, it means Messi has hit at least 20 league goals in every season from 2008/09 onwards.

With 16 games left, it wouldn’t be surprising if Messi was to double his tally by the time the domestic campaign is done and dusted.

In 2018 on the whole, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 51 goals for club and country – continuing his run of scoring 40+ goals in ten consecutive years.

He’s surpassed the 50 mark on several occasions – and quite frankly we’re still struggling to comprehend his year of madness in 2012 – when he bagged an insane 91 goals across 12 months.

It’s Messi’s world and we’re just living in it..
