A punter has scored big after making an incredible £3,000 return on a bet placed on Liverpool’s victory over Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League.
The football fan placed £5 on Sadio Mané and Virgil van Dijk to score a header, as well as predicting a 3-1 result in favour of the Reds.
With the bet coming in at 600/1, it’s safe to say that this punter must be buzzing that Jürgen Klopp’s men defeated the reigning Bundesliga champions at the Allianz Arena.
Interestingly, the same punter, Jack Wheaton, also placed a bet on Atlético Madrid’s second-leg defeat to Juventus.
So, what did Wheaton bet?
The Old Lady to win 3-0, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick.
That’s right, Wheaton has cemented his legacy in betting history with those two predictions.
However, the punter did play it safe for the Juventus one, putting down £1 on 200/1 odds. But hey, he did take home £200 on that bet, so there’s not much argument there!
The Champions League’s last eight consists of Ajax, Manchester United, Porto, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, Manchester City and Barcelona.
The draw for the next round will take place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday.
Which two teams will make it into the final of the Champions League?
