It has been a remarkable journey in football for Madeira-born Cristiano Ronaldo
From a skinny teenager with spaghetti-like string running through his hair to the almost machine-like forward we hail on a weekly basis at Juventus, the 34-year-old will go down as one of the all-time greats.
And to celebrate his legacy, Ronaldo’s first club Sporting CP are reportedly in talks to rename their stadium after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, the club are considering renaming the current ‘Jose Alvalade’ stadium to either ‘CR7 Stadium’ or ‘Alvalade CR7.’
Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas is reported to have already begun talks with Cristiano Ronaldo’s entourage about the idea.
It is also believed that board members have already accepted the initial plans, according to the report.
Italian publication CalcioMercato claim that the Primeira Liga outfit are ‘determined to close the agreement as soon as possible.’
The former Manchester United winger already has an international airport named after him in Madeira, as well as a museum and hotel.
But this would certainly be his biggest scoop to date.
Ronaldo also has a statue that has been grabbing plenty of people’s attention thanks to the attention to detail put into his crotch.
The statue is located outside of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s personal museum, Museu CR7, in Funchal, Madeira.
