Sarri: Harder in England…
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has again complained about his side’s congested fixture list. “In England, you have to play more.”
The former Napoli Coach had a track record of grumbling at the San Paolo, and he kept up that habit when he spoke before the Blues’ game against Manchester United on Sunday.
“All the teams in European competitions, after 55 games it is very difficult, not just for us but for all those teams,” he said.
“It is a problem, but for an English team, it is not easy to solve this problem. To get to the end of the season in top physical condition.
“In England, you have to play more. In Spain or Italy has played 48 or 49 matches, here in England we will play match number 57, I think. That is a big difference at this moment.”
It comes while Chelsea are vying for a top-four finish in the Premier League and have a Europa League semi-final to contend with.
Sarri then addressed his recent FA charge, which saw him fined £8,000 for misconduct during his team’s 2-2 draw with Burnley on Monday night.
“The fine was because I was out of the technical box and it was true, so I have to pay, I think. I went there in my opinion for good reason.
“In my career, I have made a lot of mistakes so I can understand that under pressure you say something you don’t mean. It was a strong discussion, but it must remain on the pitch.”
