Top 10 Highest Crowds At Player Unveilings

Eden Hazard comes in at sixth on the list of the top 10 highest crowds at official player presentations.

Having passed his medical examinations at the La Moraleja, Hazard was officially unveiled as a Galactico and 50,000 fans packed into the Bernabeu to see him in the flesh yesterday.

And having become Real’s biggest signing since Gareth Bale in 2013, the turn-out was enough to place Hazard comfortably in the top 10 for biggest presentation attendances – and the top three when it comes to Los Blancos.

The list is dominated by Real Madrid and Barcelona, with Cristiano Ronaldo leading the way after 75,000 fans turned up to see presented following his then world-record move to Spanish capital in 2009.

Diego Maradona is in second after 65,000 rabid Napoli fans came out to worship him in 1984 when he joined, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic drew 60,000 fans when he was announced as a Barcelona player in a big-money swap deal that saw Samuel Eto’o head to Inter Milan in 2010.

Brazilians Neymar and Kaka complete the top five, while Fernando Torres, Carlos Tevez and David Villa also make the cut.

Hazard, who will earn £400,000-a-week at Real, was unveiled without a squad number as he is yet to formally receive one.

He did ask Luka Modric for the coveted No.10 shirt which he wore with distinction at Chelsea, but the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner wasn’t having it.

“I’ve talked to Modric through [Mateo] Kovacic. I jokingly asked him if he could leave me No.10, he said no, I have to find another number,” Hazard said on Thursday, as per Goal.

“For me the number is not important, but to play with this shirt, with this badge.”
