Daniele De Rossi marked his Boca Juniors debut with a goal, but it was not enough as they crashed out of the Copa Argentina.
De Rossi was handed his first start for Boca on Wednesday evening against Almagro.
The former Roma midfielder made an instant impact, heading his side into the lead on 28 minutes, before being booked and receiving a standing ovation as he was substituted off in the second half.
Just five minutes after he left the field at La Bombonera, however, Almagro equalised and Boca went on to lose 3-1 in the subsequent shootout.
Next up for Los Xeneizes is a League fixture against Aldosivi next Monday.
