Roma director Gianluca Petrachi praised Coach Paulo Fonseca, asked for patience during their “revolution” and confirmed Patrik Schick and Nikola Kalinic talks.
The Derby Della Capitale with Lazio kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT), follow the build-up and action as it happens on the LIVEBLOG.
“As a former player, I’d love to be able to experience games like this on the pitch. I do also know it’s right to keep a good level of calm and not let adrenaline take over,” the director of sport told Sky Sport Italia.
“People expect everything straight away, but Roma enacted a genuine revolution here, giving away 15 players and bringing in eight so far.
“We also brought in a new, modern Coach who is learning about Serie A and adapting to this environment. The players are learning his tactical systems and getting to know the Coach, so we are still in the early days of this revolution.
“I was won over by Fonseca when I first met him, as he has this idea of football that is fascinating, but also very simple to understand. He wants to keep possession, dominate and take the initiative at all times.
“All our training sessions have the ball at our feet, we do very few dry runs. At the same time, he put them in front of the drawing board and showed where things went wrong against Genoa, that attacking doesn’t mean a lack of balance or nine players all going forward at once.”
Petrachi was asked about reports RB Leipzig had agreed to take Schick on loan with obligation to buy, but have now decided they’d prefer a dry loan with no option.
“I find it absurd that the transfer window is open when we are in Week 2. The problem is that the rules were created by those who do not play football, so they don’t understand the anxiety or tension that these lads have to deal with.
“I really hope the rules change, because I am concentrated on the game, yet I receive 200 calls during the match and there are 48 hours left.
“Schick is a player we have been asked for, they took a small step backwards on the formula of the transfer, we’ll see what happens tomorrow.
“As for Kalinic, as you know, I’m just waiting to see developments tomorrow.”
It’s widely reported Atletico Madrid striker Kalinic is waiting to get on a flight to Rome for his medical, on loan with option to buy.
