AKIRA ART OF WALL to Return as PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO’s Opening Exhibition in November

“AKIRA ART OF WALL Katsuhiro Otomo × Kosuke Kawamura AKIRA ART EXHIBITION” is scheduled to be held as the opening exhibition for PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO (4F) and GALLERY X (B1F) to open in the Shibuya Parco shopping mall in Tokyo on November 22, 2019.

As a collaboration work between the AKIRA manga’s original author Katsuhiro Otomo and collage artsit Kosuke kawamura, the wall arts were originally displayed on a 63 meter-long exterior wall around the Shibuya Parco building when it was under reconstruction from May 2017 to August 2019.

The upcoming indoor exhibition at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO will display a giant collage art recreated with the wall arts found from the construction site. In addition, Otomo’s original AKIRA manga drawings and promotional posters will be also exhibited, as well as replicas of the iconic objects appeared in the story. Meanwhile, GALLERY X will held an installation to display huge three-dimensional objects, and will sell original merchandise items for the event, including collaboration T-shirts.
