Former Juventus boss Max Allegri has emerged as the leading contender to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Allegri had intended to take a year off after his exit from Juve over the summer, but he has since been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Now, Tuttosport is claiming United will move for the 52-year-old in the event they dispense with Solskjaer.
The Norwegian is a club legend but has overseen the Red Devils’ worst start to a season since the Premier League began in 1992.
Allegri is also understood to have been taking intensive English language classes, seemingly in preparation for an opportunity such as this one.
The newspaper adds the English giants are also looking at former Inter defender Laurent Blanc.
Blanc played at Old Trafford between 2001 and 2003 and has been out of work since 2016, on the back of leading Paris Saint-Germain to three straight Ligue 1 titles.
