Buttler’s buccaneering scorches the record-books again

154 Runs scored by England in the last 10 overs of the innings, which is the second-most by any side in an ODI. South Africa had scored 163 in the final ten versus West Indies at Wanderers in 2015, which remains the record. Jos Buttler did most of the damage in this period for England, scoring 106 off 34 deliveries.

24 Sixes hit by England batsmen – the most for a side in an ODI innings. They edged past the previous record of 23, which was set by West Indies in the first game of this series, at Bridgetown.

4 England posted their fourth total of 400-plus in ODIs, all coming since the 2015 World Cup. All other teams combined have managed just one 400-plus total in this period, which was by South Africa. This was only the second such total in the Caribbean since India’s 413 against Bermuda in the 2007 World Cup.

77 Balls taken by Buttler to reach 150 – the second-fastest to the mark. The fewest balls to 150 is 64 balls by AB de Villiers versus West Indies at Sydney in the 2015 World Cup. At one point, Buttler scored 48 runs off 10 successive balls, hitting all of them for boundaries. Overall, Buttler scored 124 runs from fours and sixes, which is 82.66% of his runs.

6051 Runs for Eoin Morgan in ODIs for England. He became the first to go past 6000 runs for England (although he has an additional 744 in 23 matches for Ireland. He brought up his 11th ODI century for England (and 12th overall), sharing a 204-run stand with Buttler for the fourth wicket.

12 Number of sixes by Buttler in his innings – the most for an England batsman in an ODI. He broke his own record, which was of eight sixes along with Moeen Ali. Buttler’s score of 150 is also the highest by an England batsman at No. 5 or lower.

12.57 Jason Holder’s economy rate – he conceded 88 runs in seven overs – is the second-worst for a bowler delivering seven or more overs in an ODI. He conceded six sixes and seven fours. Holder appears three times in the top five most expensive spells by West Indies bowlers (minimum seven overs) in ODIs.
