Parma boss Roberto D’Aversa concedes Cagliari simply wanted it more, but “other teams have also started adjusting their tactics to limit our strengths.”
Juraj Kucka’s header off the underside of the bar had put the Ducali in front, but a late Leonardo Pavoletti brace turned it around for a final 2-1 result.
“This result certainly changes a lot on a purely psychological level for both us and them,” D’Aversa told Sky Sport Italia.
“Cagliari started well, then we did better in the second half. It’s not like us to concede two goals like that. We were aware, also reading their interviews, that they’d throw everything at us, so we had to prepare for the brunt of that.
“Quite simply, Cagliari did better than us to bring home the win. It’s disappointing to return home empty-handed after that. We are no longer a surprise outfit, the other teams study us carefully and adjust their tactics to limit our strengths.
“Our objective of Serie A safety has not been achieved yet, so we must remain sharp and with our feet on the ground, especially after taking the lead.”
