A desperate search has been launched for a yoga instructor who went for a hike in Maui last week and never returned.
Amanda Eller, 35, was reported missing on Thursday as family and friends say they haven’t heard from her since 7am the previous day.
Eller’s white Toyota RAV4 was found in the parking lot at Makawao Forest Reserve Thursday morning.
Several of her belongings, including her cellphone, were inside the vehicle.
A friend of the missing woman, Sarah Haynes, said it was not uncommon for Eller to leave her phone behind because she ‘likes to unplug when she goes on runs’.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching the area around where Eller’s car was discovered as a $10,000 reward has been offered for information concerning her whereabouts.

‘We’re doing everything we can think of, and there hasn’t been a sign of her,’ Haynes told KHON. She said horses, dogs, ATVs, repellers and drones were being used in the search chronicled on a Facebook page titled Findamanda.
The most recent post on Sunday afternoon included a newspaper article about Eller’s disappearance and revealed that her mother is arriving in Maui to assist in the search.
Noting that today is Mother’s Day, the post read: ‘Let’s get Amanda safely back into her mother’s arms on this special day.’
Haynes said of Eller: ‘Amanda’s really well loved in the yoga community and there are people coming from all over the island coming in and hiking and trying to find her.’
Eller’s personal website describes her as a physical therapist who became a certified yoga teacher when she moved to Maui.
She wrote on the site that she spends her time ‘exploring the beautiful outdoors while scuba diving, stand up paddle boarding and hiking’ when she’s not treating patients or teaching yoga.
Loved ones have asked anyone available to join the search. Tips can be submitted to Detective Dennis Cliff at 808-244-6433 or Eller’s friend Sarah Haynes at 415-336-4591.
