Dua Lipa took home the trophy for Best New Artist at the 61st annual Grammy Awards on Sunday.

“I want to begin by saying how honored I am to be nominated alongside so many female artists this year. I guess this year we’ve really stepped up,” she said, making reference to Recording Academy president Neil Portow’s tone deaf comments about female artists during the 2018 ceremony. “I want to say a really big thank you to my fans who have allowed me to be the best version of myself.”

It’s been a huge couple of years for the emerging British singer. Her 2017 single, “New Rules,” topped the charts in England and hit No. 6 in the United States. She followed that up with “One Kiss,” a collaboration with hitmaker Calvin Harris that also reached the top spot in the U.K. In February 2018, Lipa won two Brit Awards for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. She also received a Grammy nomination this year for Best Dance Recording for her single “Electricity” with Silk City.

Lipa beat out Greta Van Fleet, Luke Combs, Chloe x Halle, H.E.R., Margo Price, Bebe Rexha, and Jorja Smith for the Best New Artist accolade.
