Football Manager 2019 Predicts José Mourinho’s Managerial Career For The Next Six Years

José Mourinho’s future remains a mystery after Manchester United sacked him this month.

The 55-year-old Portuguese manager is now a free agent and has reportedly been linked with a return to Real Madrid next year.

While football fans will have to wait and see where the Special One heads to next, there are other ‘scientific’ ways to predict his career.

Thanks to the power of Football Manager 2019 and the fine folks at Planet Football, it is time to peer into a crystal ball and see how the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss’ career plays out for the next six years.

According to Planet Football’s Alex Keble, Mourinho has been replaced on 18th December as United boss. (Sacked in the real world and the virtual one? Talk about a rough month.)

So, Mourinho sits out the remainder of the 2018-19 season, as well as taking a nice vacation and enjoying a bit of rest and relaxation for the 2019-20 season.

And then it happens: Roma appoints Mourinho as their new manager and he is on his way back to Italy.

While he helps the Italian club climb two places in Serie A compared to last season, he is only able to finish fifth and fails to land a Champions League spot.

It’s only a bit of managing rust, right? Surely next year is his year?

You’re wrong.

Incredible! Mourinho is sacked in the 2021-22 season. While most people are not shocked by the fact that he has been shown the door, he has failed to pick up a trophy and leaves the club without any silverware to his name.

It looks like the aforementioned statement has resonated with the Special One, as he is out of a job over the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.

Is this the end? Nope.

Just like that and Mourinho is back in the Premier League after Everton appoint him as their new manager for the 2024-25 season.

While he is keen to rebuild his career, the Toffees are forced to sack him after he leads the club to a 13th-place finish.
