The story of the disappearance of former AC Milan wonderkid Hachim Mastour has come to a pretty quick end after the young Moroccan footballer turned up.
There aren’t many YouTube sensations and tricksters that go on to become footballers. Sure Neymar looked good on YouTube videos before heading to Europe but it was still playing professionally in Brazil.
Hachim Mastour was just a young kid doing some amazing things on YouTube videos with tricks and flicks and managed to capture the imaginations of some of the biggest teams in Europe, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Real Madrid linked.
In the end it was AC Milan who managed to sign the player, when he was just 14 years old, signing him from Reggina’s youth academy.
Mastour signed in 2012 and was on the books of the Rossoneri until 2018 but he never made it onto the pitch, making the bench under Clarence Seedorf once in Serie A.
He was loaned out to Malaga and Zwolle but didn’t get much football there either. In September the Reggina born player moved to Greece with PAS Lamina.
According to reports Lamina haven’t seen there player throughout January and they considered him to have ‘disappeared’ as they haven’t heard from him. Even FIFA are thought to have been contacted over the matter.
However according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport the 20 year old is back in Milan where he’s been rehabbing an injury.
The report goes on to say that Mastour had returned to Italy without permission and that he’d reached the ‘point of no return’ with his Greek club.
Mastour is still extremely young and could get back on track before his career is near over but it is a long fall from grace for someone that was wanted by so many of Europe’s biggest clubs not that long ago.
Perhaps there’s a reason that no one else is signing YouTube footballers and concentrating on other young prospects.
Will Mastour ever become a star?
