Louis CK is catching flack online for jokes from his latest stand-up set that mocks the Parland shooting survivors and nonbinary people. The audio from the set, purported to have taken place on December 16th, first surfaced on YouTube before being pulled down. The internet being what it is though, the audio is still floating around and is in the below Twitter post.
In the audio, CK starts off by complaining about younger people being “boring” by calling others out for the things they say. He adds, “F**k you, you’re a child. Why aren’t you finger-f**king each other and doing Jell-O shots?”
He goes on to take aim at nonbinary people, saying, “‘You should address me…’ They’re like royalty! They tell you what to call them. ‘You should address me as they/them, because I identify as gender-neutral.’ Oh, ok. You should address me as ‘there’ because I identify as a location. And the location is your mother’s c**t.’”
Finally in the audio, he moves on to the Parkland survivors who testified in Congress, saying, “What are you doing? You’re young, you should be crazy, you should be unhinged! Not in a suit, saying, ‘I’m here to tell’ — f**k you. You’re not interesting because you went to a high school where kids got shot! Why does that mean I have to listen to you? How does that make you interesting? You didn’t get shot, you pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I gotta listen to you talking?”
The latest round of criticism comes a week after an old clip from an HBO show resurfaced which featured CK, Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais using the N-word in a discussion about the nature of comedy, which itself drew a certain amount of controversy. And the comedian is of course just over a year removed from his sexual harassment scandal from late last year, in which he acknowledged masturbating in front of women and said he would “now step back and take a long time to listen.”
