Kevin Malcuit’s agent says the Napoli right-back has apologised for his costly backpass during defeat to Juventus but reminds fans ‘he needs our support’.
Malcuit gifted Juve the opening goal from the penalty spot on Saturday evening as his pass back to goalkeeper Alex Meret was intercepted by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The incident forced Meret to take down Ronaldo out of desperation and leave the Partenopei a man light just 25 minutes in.
The Frenchman was replaced by Dries Mertens at half-time, while the Old Lady won 2-1 at the San Paolo to move 16 points clear at the Serie A summit.
“A lapse can change a game when you play at this level,” Bruno Satin told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“It went badly wrong with Meret’s red card and the goal right away. It was a dark night, but we hope Kevin is able to react quickly with his character.
“I heard from him, he was disappointed. He apologised to everyone, above all his teammates and the fans.
“He’s aware of the significance of his mistake in a game like the one against Juventus, which isn’t like all the others.
“He wanted to do well and messed up, but it happens to every player. We hope that in Napoli’s next few games, he gets the chance to make amends.
“The player needs our support at a difficult time. We can’t throw everything away, he’s done many good things while he’s been here.
“Luckily there’s now the Europa League.”
