Man arrested after attempted abduction of girl, 6, from Christmas market using toys and sweets

A MAN has been arrested following the attempted abduction of a six-year-old girl today.

A 47-year-old was arrested following the alleged incident in Egham, Surrey, at around 12.40pm this afternoon.

Police said a man had given the girl toys and sweets on Egham High Street before trying to lead her away.

Officers were on the scene within minutes of the incident being reported.

The suspect is described as white, around 50 years, around 5ft 9 tall and of a slight build.

He was wearing a grey cap, a black jacket, jeans, trainers and glasses and was carrying a black rucksack.
