Manchester United Ready To Back Ole Gunnar Solskjær In January Transfer Window

Manchester United will back new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær when the transfer window opens next month.

The 45-year-old former United forward was appointed to the position today after former manager José Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Mirror, the United board will provide Solskjær with £50m for the right players.

The Red Devils are sixth in the Premier League after 17 matches and are 11 points off from a Champions League spot and 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

With the club still competing in the Champions League this season, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is ready to crack open the war chest and allow Solskjær to reinforce his squad.

It’s reported that the club have prioritised a centre-back and a winger as their top transfer targets. The Mirror suggests that one of the names on the list is Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld, who could cost the club £30m.

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly has also been named, though Blues chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has recently revealed that a £95m bid had been rejected by the club.

Éder Militão is also on the Red Devils’ radar, while the club is interested in making a move for Juventus’ Douglas Costa.

Is £50m enough to salvage United’s season?
