Melania Trump boarded a plane in Palm Beach on Monday afternoon to return to Washington D.C. for Christmas as President Donald Trump complained on Twitter he was ‘all alone (poor me) in the White House.’
The first lady, wearing a red coat, appeared to be traveling solo. The first couple’s son, 12-year-old Barron, was not spotted.
She boarded a C37A government plane – an adapted Gulfstream V – for the approximately two and half hour flight to the nation’s Capitol.

She and the president will call into NORAD’s Santa Tracker on Monday night
Her return comes as President Trump has been on twitter storm – 10 tweets in four hours – on a range of subjects, including complaining he is alone in the White House.
‘I am all alone (poor me) in the White House waiting for the Democrats to come back and make a deal on desperately needed Border Security,’ he wrote.
Melania Trump was spotted boarding the plane at 12:55 p.m., 23 minutes after Trump’s tweet.
This evening, she and the president will make phone calls into the NORAD Santa Tracker at 6:30 p.m., CBS News reported.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has been tracking Santa’s flight across the globe for 63 years.
NORAD is funded by the Pentagon. Military spending for fiscal year 2019 was approved earlier this year, meaning service people are not affected by the government shut down.
The first couple made similar calls last year from Mar-a-Lago.
The Trumps were originally scheduled to spend 16 days at Mar-a-Lago, the Southern White House, over the holidays.

But plans changed when the government shut down on Friday at midnight after Democrats and Trump could not come to an agreement on funding his border wall.
Trump wants his wall fully funded at $5 billion while Democrats offered $1.3 billion. Negotiations are stalled and not expected to resume until Thursday. Most lawmakers have left town for the holidays.
The White House announced over the weekend President Trump would stay at the White House and the first lady, who was already in Florida that point, would return to spend the holidays with him.
‘Due to the shutdown, President Trump will remain in Washington, D.C. and the First Lady will return from Florida so they can spend Christmas together,’ White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement on Saturday.
