Milan have called-up three midfielders for the Fiorentina match, two of whom haven’t played this season and one of whom hasn’t ever played a professional match.
The Rossoneri have lost Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura to long-term injuries, and they may not play again this season.
To make things worse, Franck Kessié and Tiemoué Bakayoko are suspended after the 0-0 draw with Bologna on Tuesday.
Andrea Bertolacci was in line for a first Serie A start of the season, but he pulled out of training this afternoon and isn’t in the squad.
The only midfielders listed in Gennaro Gattuso’s squad are Jose Mauri, who one Serie A start in 17 months, and former captain Riccardo Montolivo who has been totally frozen out since pre-season.
The only other midfielder in the squad is 18-year-old Marco Bresciannini, who has never played a professional match.
