Cristiano Ronaldo, Conor McGregor and ‘Canelo’ Alvarez all feature in SI’s top ten fittest male athletes of 2018.
Sports Illustrated have gathered a group of experts to determine the most fittest athletes of 2018.
Mexican sensational ‘Canelo’ is ranked No.10 following his incredible performance vs. Gennady Golovkin, not to mention moving up in weight to claim the super-middleweight world title.
He’s not the only combat superstar.
UFC’s Conor McGregor enters the list at No.9. While he lost his only fight in 2018, SI praise him for his ability to swing from MMA to boxing then back to MMA.
“Though he wasn’t victorious against Khabib Nurmagomedov in his much-anticipated return to the octagon, Conor McGregor’s ability to swing from UFC to boxing and then back again is a testament to his superior fitness. A multi-weight champion in UFC, the 30-year-old from Ireland packs precision and punishing power into his signature punch,” the publication states.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who completed a mega-transfer to Juventus in the summer of 2018, is the second most fittest athlete behind New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley.
Here’s the top ten:
10 – ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (Boxing)
9 – Conor McGregor (MMA)
8 – Jordan Burroughs (Wrestling)
7- LeBron James (NBA)
6 – Mat Fraser (Cross-Fit)
5 – Kevin Mayer (Decathlon)
4 – Novak Djokovic (Tennis)
3 – Giannis Antetokounmpo (NBA)
2 – Cristiano Ronaldo (Football)

2018 Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, who had an incredible campaign last year, makes it into the list at No.12.
Meanwhile, American gymnast Simone Biles was ranked the fittest female athlete of 2018.
British track star Dina Asher-Smith, UFC ‘champ-champ’ Amanda Nunes and tennis icon Serena Williams also get a mention.
