Ronda Rousey Plays Sonya Blade In New Mortal Kombat 11

Ronda Rousey is best known as being one of the baddest women on the planet and beating up people for fun. The former UFC champion turned WWE star will soon be beating people up virtually with her new role.

For a few years Ronda Rousey was the UFC women’s division. She brought more eyes to the product than anyone else before her, or probably since, and whilst it ended badly it doesn’t stop her being a bona fide great of the sport.

After winning Olympic bronze in judo she moved to MMA and won her first 12 fights, became UFC bantamweight champion and beat up most of the women in mere seconds.

At the beginning of 2018 though Rousey packed it all in and turned up at the end of the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble at the WWE event of the same name.

Within a year Rousey has captured WWE gold and become as dominant as she did in UFC, with a Wrestlemania main event potentially on the horizon.

Now Rousey has been given the chance to live out another life long dream as the 31 year old was officially announced as the new voice of Sonya Blade at the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event.

Speaking about the new role Rousey said, “I’ve been a lifelong Mortal Kombat fan, and Sonya Blade was the first kick-ass, female video game character that I related to.

“Now I get to voice her in Mortal Kombat 11. It’s a dream come true to be a part of the Mortal Kombat franchise that I grew up playing.”

The event revealed that Blade will be joined by Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Skarlet, Baraka and newcomer Geras in the game and comes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One on April 23rd.

Rousey will mark her one year anniversary in WWE at this year’s Royal Rumble event when she defends her Raw Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks.

There have been increasingly loud rumours that the former UFC champion will face Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 35 in April and they will be the first women to main event the show.

2018 was a big year for Rousey and yet it might be nothing on what 2018 promises.
