Liverpool are flying high this season and Jürgen Klopp won’t want to derail his momentum in the hopes of landing the Premier League title.
In fact, the Reds are unbeaten in their first 18 matches and have won on 15 occasions in the league.
Not too shabby for the former Borussia Dortmund boss, right?
Well, the club’s current 18-match run is their best start to the Premier League season since 1987-88, which is the same year that they won the title.
Liverpool picked up a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk getting their names on the scoresheet.
Klopp’s side are top of the Premier League and are four points clear of Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace, with Andros Townsend scoring with an incredible 35-yard volley.
The Liverpool manager realises that he faces a tough test when he comes up against City on 3rd January.
“It was clear the whole game would be difficult. Everybody wants to press. We want to be compact but wide as well which makes it difficult,” he told BBC Sport.
“We defended it pretty well. The heavy rain was difficult for both teams. It was a big fight and we knew we needed to be ready.
“We will be training on Christmas morning, so it is like every other day and we have Manchester City waiting so that will be really tough for the boys.
“We need to have different game plans, but the boys showed they are ready for that.”
