He was 43.

Gabe Solis, the ex-husband of Trina Braxton, lost his battle with cancer, Thursday (Dec. 20),  TMZ reports. He was 43.

Solis passed away at his home in Texas, surrounded by friends and family, according to the outlet. No official details have been released about his passing.

Solis had reportedly been keeping his cancer battle private. His death came as a shock to his loved ones. On Friday (Dec. 21), Braxton seemingly mourned the loss of her ex-husband with a cryptic Instagram meme reading, “I need a hug..E bottle of wine.”

The former couple tied the knot in 2003, and appeared together on previous seasons of WEtv’s Braxton Family Values. Despite finalizing their divorce in 2015, Braxton and Solis confronted lingering issues from their marriage during an episode of Iyanla: Fix My Life, earlier in the year.

Braxton has since moved on to a new relationship, but remained friends with Solis.

An attorney for the man who killed Nia Wilson could be building an insanity defense. John Lee Cowell is exhibiting signs of “extreme delusion and paranoia,” his lawyer, Christina Moore, said during a plea hearing Thursday (Dec. 20), the East Bay Times reports.

“I don’t believe he’s able to assist me,” Moore told the Alameda County Superior Court. “We are unable to have any conversation about the case.”

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, people in the courtroom gasped at Moore’s claims.

“It’s a lie,” Wilson’s mother, Alicia Grayson, said after the hearing. “That’s what white privilege [does] … That’s like war. All white people do is say they’re crazy.”

A hearing will be held next week to determine if Cowell should be granted a mental evaluation. If so, “neutral court appointed” doctors will be commissioned to assess Cowell’s mental state.

Cowell fatally stabbed 18-year-old Wilson and critically injured her older sister while the two were at an Oakland BART station, in July. Cowell, 27, cleaned off the knife used to stab Wilson and fled the scene. He was arrested a day later at a nearby BART station. Prosecutors have not yet announced if they will seek the death penalty.

Nicki Minaj’s boyfriend, Kenneth Petty, used her as the inspiration for his very first tattoo. Petty got Minaj’s birth name, “Onika,” tattooed on his neck in red cursive letters.

The “Good Form” rapper showed off Petty’s tattoo Friday (Dec. 21) via an Instagram video captioned, “Did ya tat hurt zaddy?”

Petty isn’t the only man to get an ode to Minaj inked on his body. Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, tattooed her face on his forearm during their relationship (he had the tattoo covered up in 2015).

Minaj went public with her new beau earlier in the month and the two appear to be blissfully cuddled up, amid reports about Petty’s criminal past coming to light.

The native New Yorker was released from prison in 2013, after serving time for manslaughter. Petty was also convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995.

Minaj has made it clear that she’s standing by her new man. The Queens native responded to reports about Petty’s rape case in an Instagram comment writing in part that he was 15 years old at the time, and in a “relationship” with the victim, who was 16, according to Minaj. “But go awf internet. Ya’ll can’t run my life,” she wrote. “Ya’ll can’t even run ya’ll own life.”

The Netflix show The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is coming to an end. However, the show is going out in style and giving us a moment to remember.

The trailer for the comedy series’ final season shows one of the show’s stars Tituss Burgess (who plays Kimmy’s roommate Titus Andromedon) paying homage to one of black America’s most beloved ’90s sitcoms, Living Single. The recreation was titled Magic City.

The video shows the cast of UKS- Titus, the show’s titular character (portrayed by Ellie Kemper) Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) and Lillian (Carol Kane)- recreating the scene that fans should remember from the show’s theme song.

Burgess is also seen recreating the shadowy dance-sequence in the theme song, shimmies on the stoop with his cast mates, and changes up the lyrics in the song.

“It’s a nineties kind of world/ and everyone is gay/ when I say, Titus, you say nothing…” he sings.

The second-part of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s last season will available to stream via Netflix on Jan. 25. Burgess’ time on the show has earned him four Primetime Emmy nominations as well as two NAACP Image Awards nods for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
