Zapata: Even more to come…
Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata says that while he is playing the best football of his career, “I still have a lot of room for improvement.”
Atalanta take on Shakhtar Donestsk in their second Champions League game tomorrow, looking to make amends for their opening-day capitulation at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb.
“We’re preparing for this clash like the match in Zagreb,” Zapata said at a Press conference.
“We hope to develop our game well. It’ll be a difficult game. I think we’ve shown in the League that we have the right mentality to play at the highest level.
“I think this situation is the result of work and consistency over the two seasons. I got to preseason differently than I did last year and now I’m trying to make the most of it.
“I saw the game in Zagreb back on TV, but they have a great goalkeeper. Now we have to think about tomorrow. We must play well and take all the chances we get.”
The Colombian turns 30 in less than two years but has picked up from where he left off last season, scoring five goals in seven games.
“So far, yes, but I still have a lot of room for improvement. I’m not at the top, every day I’m working to improve myself,” he replied when asked if he was on the best run of his career.
“It’s thanks to the Coach, he had the patience to wait for me. I understood all the new concepts that were made for me, plus I’ve worked hard.”
